Kick-off to Tennessee Woman Suffrage Centennial
August 19 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm CDT
Date: Monday, August 19, 2019
Time: Noon – 1:00 CDT
An event to kick-off the centennial of the Tennessee vote that adopted the 19th amendment and granted woman suffrage in the United States.
The 19th Amendment to the U. S. Constitution granted women the right to vote. On August 18, 1920, the Tennessee General Assembly passed the ratification resolution, giving the amendment the 36th — and final — state necessary for ratification.
This event, hosted by the Official Committee of the State of Tennessee, kicks off the start of a year of celebration and remembrance for the momentous special session and successful vote that lead to suffrage for women.
The event is free to attend, but you must register in advance.
